Africa's highest peak was successfully climbed during August 2019 by an intrepid team including HB Leisure's Tim Batstone. A challenging week of endurance raised a massive amount of money for the 'Rays of Sunshine' charity.

It was so good they did it twice, we spoke to Tim and he details reaching the peak:
"We made such good time on the final ascent that arrived at the top in complete darkness. So descended the 1000m to base camp, and climbed it again the next night leaving 2 hours later and arriving as the sun came up. Magical!"
The fundraising has currently seen over £36,000 raised for Rays of Sunshine, a truly phenomenal amount of money for a great cause. Rays of Sunshine is a fantastic charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill young people and their families by granting wishes, typically for amazing experiences, and providing ongoing support in hospital and within the community. The money will go via the Bacta Charitable Trust, a long term fundraising partner of Rays of Sunshine.
"Coming off the mountain to see all the support and messages has made me really emotional. Thank you so, so much to everyone, including the local team of guides and porters. All heroes!" said Tim.
A massive CONGRATULATIONS from everyone at HBL!
