From her beginnings as a Skill Games Host at Legoland, Windsor, to becoming a seasoned Games Manager overseeing multiple regional sites, the inspiring journey of Regina Lubiatowska and her career with HB Leisure shows how dedication, passion and thoughtfulness for others can lead to outstanding achievements and invaluable experiences.
Regina Lubiatowska’s career with HBL began ten years ago in 2016 when she started as a part-time Skill Games Host while attending University. Under the guidance of her managers, she developed her skills and progressed to a part-time Team Leader role by 2017. When given the opportunity to travel to Dubai and work at Global Village, her perspective on gaining potential career growth within HBL broadened and it was then that she decided to pursue a long-term career in operations.
Gradually, her commendable dedication and development accelerated her progress. From being a full-time Supervisor in 2021, Regina took a significant step forward into a new role as a Games Manager at Energylandia in 2022, where she played a key role in establishing and enhancing operations. Since 2023, she has also taken on the role of Games Manager at Winter Wonderland during seasonal periods. Now, she thrives as a Games Manager in Thorpe Park while also continuing to oversee operations in Energylandia.
When asked about how she oversees these operations across different regions and time zones, she explains that effective planning is key. “I always plan my week rather than the day and prioritise where I need to be”, says Regina. Each Monday, she takes the time to check in with her team in Poland, discussing the week’s successes, challenges and working together on solutions for the week ahead. The process is similarly applied to her team in Thorpe Park, where she spends the majority of her time. “I am very fortunate to have very good sets of people in both Thorpe Park and Energylandia, who work very hard and always strive for success. This definitely makes planning days and weeks a lot easier”, she shares.
Being a leader of this level, however, comes with its challenges and Regina has faced her fair share. Keeping her team motivated during tough days, for example, has been a continuous test for her, especially in environments where external factors such as weather conditions can affect operations. During her time in Winter Wonderland last year, the cold winter weather posed a significant challenge. Nevertheless, she rose above the circumstances and formed an innovative approach to motivating her team; she introduced Manager vs. Supervisor competitions, on-the-spot performance bonuses, and structured incentives for supervisors. These efforts reflected her willingness to push others to reach their potential—it showed her perseverance in fostering a hardworking yet enjoyable atmosphere on days when morale and engagement were low.
Throughout her career in HBL, Regina’s accomplishments are numerous, but one of her proudest achievements, she remembers, is leading Energylandia to win the Best Presentation award in 2022 and the prestigious Site of the Year award in 2023 at the HBL European Conference Awards. These accolades were the reflection of the hard work and dedication of her team, reinforcing her belief in the importance of maintaining high standards as well as appreciating the talent, dedication and work ethic of her colleagues.
Overall, Regina Lubiatowska’s journey with HBL has been defined by her dedication, resilience and commitment to both personal and team growth. She has consistently strived to elevate every site she has worked at, not just in operational excellence but in fostering a culture of teamwork and motivation. Looking ahead, she remains excited about the opportunities to inspire and develop future leaders within the company. With her passion for people and leadership at the forefront, her impactful work continues to inspire new leaders every day in HBL.
